The fight between Israel and Palestine is one of the longest and hardest battles globally. It’s a sad story with lots of violence and pain on both sides.
Understanding Hamas– What is Hamas?
Hamas is a Palestinian Sunni-Islamist fundamentalist, military, and social-welfare organization. It has a social service network and its military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, is one of the largest and most powerful armed forces in the Palestinian territories. Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, Israel, and other countries.
What is Gaza Strip?
The Gaza Strip is a small piece of land between Egypt and Israel by the Mediterranean Sea. It’s about 40 kilometers long and 6 to 12 kilometers wide. Lots of people, about 2.1 million, live there, and most of them are Palestinian refugees.
Israel and Palestine –Why is there a Fight?
The fight between Israel and Palestine comes from both sides saying the land called Palestine belongs to them. Israel says it’s their place because of their history, and Palestinians say it’s their home from a long time ago.
The problem started in the late 1800s when some people wanted a home for Jewish people in Palestine. This idea got more popular after a big tragedy called the Holocaust in the 1900s.
In 1948, the United Nations said, “Let’s divide Palestine into two places, one for Jewish people and one for Arab people.” The Jewish side agreed, but the Arab side said no. On May 14, 1948, Israel said, “We are our own country now,” and some nearby Arab countries started a war with Israel. Israel won, and that’s when they became a country.
After that, many Palestinians had to leave their homes and live in other countries. This made the fight between Israel and Palestine keep going. There were more wars and problems, and both sides did bad things to each other.
Israel and Palestine Conflict- Current Situation
Right now, things are still not good. Israel is worried about safety because of groups like Hamas. Palestinians are not happy about Israel being in charge of where they live.
People from other countries want Israel and Palestine to each have their own place to live, called a two-state solution. But it’s hard because both sides disagree on big things like who gets to decide what happens in Jerusalem and if Palestinians can go back to their old homes.
The fight between Israel and Palestine is really sad for everyone involved. It hurts both sides, and it makes it tough for peace to happen in the Middle East.
